[quick tip] How to text from your tablet

Posted in mysms quick tips by mysms

Do you possess a tablet, but are desperately looking for a way to send text messages? As mysms is a cross-platform app, you can also use the app on your Android tablet or iPad and benefit from a larger display and a more convenient keyboard for writing texts.

To get started, download mysms on your iPhone, Android or Windows Phone first and create an account on your smartphone by using your mobile phone number. Some of you might have a tablet with a SIM card. Also in this case you need to register with your phone number. Otherwise you won’t be able to use our cloud features or cross-device synchronization.

After you’ve successfully registered on your phone and the sync of your contacts and messages has completely finished, you can start with mysms on your tablet right away. mysms offers you the same sending options as you’re enjoying on your smartphone and is not depending on the kind of tablet you’re using (Wi-Fi or Cellular). If you’re using an Android phone, you can send mysms friends messages, messages via a connector as well as texts via your mobile carrier. In case you’re using an iPhone or Windows Phone you can text for free with other mysms users – just invite your friends to mysms.

[quick tip] Archive your messages in Evernote

Posted in mysms quick tips by mysms

All your messages are synced to the mysms cloud. However, if you’d like to archive and search your messages, just save them in Evernote.

Evernote is an additional storage, where you can manage and search your messages. Simply connect your mysms account with Evernote via mysms on your mobile, desktop or the web app, by clicking on “Evernote” in the mysms settings. If you haven’t been using Evernote yet, you need to create an account first, which is also possible via our web or desktop apps. After the successful connection, you will find all of your new incoming and outgoing messages in Evernote as well. As this is also a cloud service, your archived messages are accessible via any device.

Please note that it is not possible to restore your messages back from Evernote to mysms.

Normally, mysms is optimized for landscape and portrait mode. In case you’re using a tablet with a small screen, the contact pictures may occupy valuable space of your thread view. Therefore, we’ve implemented a feature that simply hides contact pictures in portrait mode. Just deactivate the option in the settings as shown below!

Introducing mysms for iPad

Posted in mysms news by mysms

Maybe you have read yesterday’s post about our brand new Android tablet app, and thought what about us iPad users? No worries, we did not forget about you! Here it is, our Pre-Christmas present for you, the first of its kind, our mysms iPad app is available on the Apple App Store.

Truly native, simply beautiful

If you have used our web app on the iPad before, you will be pleased by the native iPad version. Instead using the existing HTML5-version, we have built everything natively from scratch. This led to a huge boost in performance that  you’ll notice as soon as you open the app.  We worked hard to provide you with the same smooth experience that you know from our web app, but added native elements that you love on your iPad, such as native notifications and gestures. On top of that we tweaked the design and usability so that the app just looks and feels right. You’ll know what we mean as soon as you give it a try.

Packed with features

mysms for iPad is as feature-rich as the web app. You can send and receive messages on your iPad and take advantage of the bigger display and keyboard. Your messages are synchronized with your smartphone, meaning you can start a conversation on your iPad, and continue anytime on your phone. Texts and pictures to other mysms users are free of charge and sent via your mobile data connection or WIFI. If you combine the iPad app with an Android phone, you can even send texts via your mobile carrier and reach every contact from your address book via SMS.

It’s easy to get started

If you are a first time user of mysms, you need to download one of our phone apps first and create a mysms account there. Your messages are then synced to our mysms cloud and you can access them from any web-enabled device, e.g. your iPad. Now is the time to download mysms onto your iPad, enter your number and password, and start texting like never before 😉

We are very curious what you think of our work of the last few months. Let us know in the comments!
