Posted in apps, messaging by mysms

Have you already heard about mysms Premium? Recently, we introduced two of our Premium features to you: Backup & restore and the call feature. Today we’re going to focus on our SMS archiving plugins.

In addition to the mysms cloud, you can back up your messages in your Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote or Email account. With these services your messages are backed up forever.

We’ll now take a closer look at all services you can connect your mysms account with. Once you connect your mysms account with one of these services, your new incoming and outgoing texts will be archived there.

Connect mysms with Dropbox

Connecting mysms with Dropbox helps you to better manage your texts on any device. Dropbox is a file-hosting service that offers cloud storage. When you enable this integration in mysms, you will find your new incoming and outgoing texts in your Dropbox. After connecting your accounts, your messages are saved in a separate mysms folder (“Apps/mysms”).

Connect mysms with Google Drive

With our Google Drive extension you will never lose a message again. Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service of Google. By activating the Google Drive extension, you can save your texts in your Google Drive account. Once connected, all new conversations will be forwarded to your “mysms” folder on your Google Drive.

The Evernote integration allows you to back up your text messages. Evernote is a cloud-based note-taking service. After connecting your mysms account with Evernote, you can manage your SMS there. All new messages that reach or leave your phone will also be saved to your “mysms” notebook in Evernote.

Connect mysms with your Email account

The email integration allows you to manage all your text messages in your email account. Connecting your personal email address with your mysms account gives you the opportunity to forward all incoming and outgoing text messages automatically to your email account. You will find all incoming and outgoing texts as a separate email. Just enter your email address in the mysms settings.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Go to the settings in mysms on your Android phone and click on “SMS Archiving”.
  2. Subscribe to mysms Premium.
  3. Connect your mysms account with Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote or your Email account and enter your account data.
  4. From now on you will find all new incoming and outgoing messages in your chosen service.

The archiving plugins serve as an additional storage where you can manage and search your messages. It is not possible to restore your texts back from Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote or your Email account to mysms. If you are interested in restoring your messages, just take a look at our backup & restore feature.

mysms Now Supports Group MMS Messaging

Posted in messaging, mysms news by mysms

We are happy to share some long-awaited news with you. With the latest Android version, mysms supports group MMS (a.k.a. MMS group chat) for Android users on all devices. Group MMS messaging is already live today for Android phone, Android tablet, Android mirror, and the browser version. All other tablet and desktop apps will shine with updates in the next few days.

Compose group messages on your computer and tablet

What’s new?

mysms previously allowed you to send group SMS to 50 contacts at once, but if one of your contacts replied to your message, you would receive the reply in an individual thread (no “reply-all”). With the introduction of group MMS all answers to your message will now show up in one group conversation.

Start a group message

Composing a group message is really simple. Open a new message and enter your contacts (more than 1 person). Your send button will change to “MMS” (Update November 6, 2014: The default setting depends on your country).  After you have sent the message, it will show up as usual in your conversation overview showing the names of your contacts.

Reply to group conversations

All replies that you receive to your group message will show up in one combined conversation. Please note that your contacts will only be able to reply via group MMS when this feature is also supported by their smartphones.

Choose whether you want to send an MMS or SMS

Bonus: Decide which channel you want to use

You might find yourself in situations where you prefer to send an SMS or a mysms friends message instead of an MMS. For example, you notice that one of your contacts is not able to receive group MMS, you don’t want others to see who receives your message, or MMS are not included in your mobile plan. For these reasons mysms always gives you the choice to choose another sending option. Click on the arrow next to your send button and select another channel if you like.

Make sure you give group messaging a try and let us know what you think in the comments!

Update November 6, 2014: With today’s update we reset the default setting for some countries. When adding multiple contacts as recipient, “MMS” will be the default sending option only for US, CA and FR users. All other users send SMS per default. However, the send channel can still be changed by longpressing the send button.

Left your phone at home? Get notified on your computer.

With the mysms call feature you will never miss a call again – no matter if you leave your phone in your pocket or forget it at home. You will receive notifications for incoming calls and can also dial, answer, mute or dismiss a call. If you start a call on your computer and tablet, you will still need to talk on your phone. Situation 1:

You’re sitting in front of the computer screen the entire day. You manage your work completely on your desktop and don’t want to take out your phone to manage your messages and calls.

Luckily you can use mysms on your desktop for both occasions. Besides sending and receiving text messages, you can overview your calls. It is especially convenient when you use a Bluetooth head set that is connected to your phone. In this case you can even start or answer a call directly from your computer.

Situation 2:

It is early Monday morning and you will have a busy day at the office. Today you should receive an important call from a customer. Suddenly you realized that you forgot your phone at home. Bad timing. So what can you do?

With our call feature you only need to log in with your mysms account on your computer or tablet. You will not only be up to date of your messages but also your important calls. You will receive notifications for incoming calls and can even answer with a messages that you forgot your phone at home and that you will call back later.

This feature is part of mysms Premium. If you want to activate the remote call feature, please click on the option “Remote call” in the mysms settings in your Android phone app and directly subscribe to mysms Premium.
