We proudly present mysms mirror: To text from one phone to another

Posted in mysms news by mysms

You are using two smartphones, but you hate to carry both devices with you all the time? Today we have a great announcement to make! We’re releasing a new app: mysms mirror. This app is an extension of the mysms phone app and will help you to manage the SMS conversations of your two smartphones.

mysms mirror is available for Android phone and iPhone

Many of our users told us they struggle to stay on top of their messages on a daily basis when using multiple phones. If you have a look at our forum, you’ll notice that it is also the most requested feature to use mysms on two different phones (maybe you even belong to the group of voters). With this feedback in mind, we decided to find an easier way to keep track of text messages. The result is an app that concentrates on one main feature – displaying text messages from one phone to another.

mysms mirror allows you to better manage your texts when using two phones. You’ll be able to read and write messages using different phone numbers from one single smartphone. And it’s not only limited to text messages, as we’re going one step further and will add notifications for missed calls in the next version. So no matter if you are using a business and a private phone, or if you just want to save on costs by using different operators – mysms mirror will help you to simplify sending and receiving text messages. You can be sure you won’t miss an important message or call, you will always have the right phone with you.

mysms mirror is available for your Android phone or iPhone. Let’s have a look how to get started:

1) Install mysms on your Android phone or iPhone you want to mirror and create a mysms account. This will be the account that you use to mirror your texts.

2) Install mysms mirror for your Android phone or iPhone to display your messages on your primary phone and log in with your previously created or your existing mysms account.

Stay up to date with mysms mirror, if you use two or more smartphones. For Android we offer a free trial of 30 days ($9.99 for unlimited usage), so start testing right away and let us know what you think about it in the comments!

Update October 9, 2014: Starting today we are introducing a new Premium model that will be different to the Premium that we presented in this post. mysms mirror is one of many features that is included in the newly introduced Premium offer. Find more information about mysms Premium here.

Get notified when your mysms friend is typing a message

Posted in messaging, mysms news by mysms

Ever wanted to know if the recipient of your message is already composing a reply? This is now possible with our latest integrated typing notification. Last week we’ve released this feature for Android tablet and iPad and now we’re expanding typing notifications also to Android phone, iPhone and the web.

How can I see that my contact is typing?

If you have enabled contact pics you’ll see three animated dots at the bottom of your photo, while the person on the other end is typing. It does matter if you are in the message overview or directly in a conversation, you will recognize that your contact is composing a message.

Do I get typing notifications for all my messages?

Typing notifications are only shown for mysms friends and they are displayed for single and group messages. For texts via your mobile carrier this feature is not available.

We are excited to offer you this feature and we hope it makes your mysms experience a lot richer. If you haven’t done so, get the update now and let us know if you like it!

[quick tip] Add numbers to your blacklist

Posted in mysms quick tips by mysms

Would you like to block messages from a certain person or exclude a specific number from syncing? With the latest update for Android phone we implemented the feature to add numbers to the blacklist.

How to blacklist numbers

How to blacklist numbers

As mentioned above it’s possible to block messages from a recipient completely. Please be aware that consequently these messages won’t show up on any device and even not in your stock texting app. The second option is to exclude a number from synching. That means that messages from this number are still visible on your phone, but not on your other devices. You probably want to use it for texts that contain sensitive data like PIN codes.

There are two ways to add or remove numbers from this blacklist:

  • If you have an existing conversation of the number you want to blacklist, open the conversation overview and longpress on the conversation. Now open the context menu and tap on “Add to blacklist”. After you choose one of the two options “Not synced” or “Blocked” the number will be successfully added to your list.
  • Another possibility is to open the mysms settings. There you’ll find the submenu “Blacklist”, where you’re additionally able to add any number you like or choose one from the phone book. Moreover there you can also check which numbers you’ve added, and which option you have chosen.
  • Removing numbers from the list works in the same way: Longpress on a conversation or the number in the blacklist and simply delete it.

This is another option how mysms can help you to manage your texts the way you want. Do you like it? Let us know in the comments!

(Update 10/14/2013: Please note that it’s only possible to blacklist non-mysms users at the moment. This feature will be added with the next updates.)

mysms for Windows 7/XP comes with new features!

Posted in apps, mysms news by mysms

Are you using Windows 7 or Windows XP? In this case you might have been longing for this news: Now the time has come for our major update for mysms desktop app for Windows 7/XP! We’ve improved the performance and cool new features are waiting for you.

Discover the new features!

Discover the new features!

A short note before we start introducing the new features: All settings can be found by right-clicking on the mysms icon in the system tray or by clicking on the cogwheel within the app.

Appearance on taskbar

Using the mysms app on your Windows 7/XP PC has become more intuitive and adaptable: To have mysms always right at hand, we would recommend to “run mysms on Windows startup”. Once the app gets started on your computer, the app will remain open in the taskbar per default. This setting is changeable now, so you can also choose to only show the app in the system tray. Moreover, click once on the icon in the tray to show your notifications or double-click to open the app. In case you don’t want mysms to run in the background, right-click on the mysms icon in the system tray and choose “Quit”.

Stay up-to-date with the popup notification

mysms informs you about incoming messages on your desktop via native notifications (tab “Settings” – “Notifications”). You got to know this feature from the previous version, but there are some new options available. You can delete and mark messages as read directly via the popup or click on it to open the conversation.
And the greatest news for some of you: We’ve implemented an option to enable the privacy mode for the popup, meaning that it won’t show the content of your incoming messages in the notification.

Discover the extended notification settings

Getting notified via the popup is not enough for you? In addition you can choose from various ringtones and set them separately for single and group messages – so you know immediately which kind of message you received. In case you don’t like multiple sound notifications or don’t want to receive them when the app is open, there’s also an option available for that.

Sending and receiving texts on your Windows PC is much more fun now, so it’s time to give it a try. You can download mysms for Windows 7/XP FOR FREE directly from our website.
