[quick tip] Send & receive regular MMS on any device

Posted in mysms quick tips by mysms

The latest update for Android phone includes the full integration of the MMS support, which means that you’re now also able to send attachments as MMS on your smartphone, tablet and computer.

mysms now fully supports MMS

mysms serves as your default SMS app on your smartphone giving you a much richer messaging experience than you are used to from your preinstalled SMS app. We have already supported sending and receiving attachments, but with the version 5.1.0 we added the last piece of the puzzle  – the option to send regular MMS.

These are the two possibilities that you can choose from in the mysms settings when using the latest update:

Send attachments via MMS

We’ve included an option in the mysms settings which is called “Send MMS”. This enables you to send regular MMS on any device. Depending on your operator, you can define the maximum MMS size in “Advanced settings”.

We’d recommend activating the option “Auto-retrieve” in the advanced settings, so that incoming MMS are downloaded automatically. If you receive a picture, you just open it to save it in the mysms folder in your Android gallery.

Send attachments via SMS

This is the way of sending attachments which you already know from earlier versions. If you disable the option “Send MMS” in the mysms phone settings, multimedia files are sent as a link as part of a normal text. This means you will only get charged for an SMS instead of an MMS. You can send four pictures or files per text message and 10 MB maximum per attached file.

If the recipient uses mysms, your files will be displayed directly in the message. If your recipient is not using mysms, she/he will receive your files as a link. After clicking this link, she/he will be shown the full picture/file.

This feature should be an enhancement for you, if you love to send and receive MMS and if you use mysms with Android KitKat 4.4. In case you have any feedback for us regarding the MMS feature, we’ll be there for you on our feedback platform.

[quick tip] Get notified on incoming texts using the DashClock widget

Posted in mysms news by mysms

mysms provides you with several widgets that can be used on your home or even on the lock screen. Anyway, if you’re a DashClock user, you might also like to display your incoming messages there.

DashClock notifes you on incoming texts

Basically DashClock is a replacement for your lock screen clock widget and is available for Android phones and tablets that run Android 4.2 or higher. As we have integrated this widget for our mysms services (Android phone, Android tablet and mysms mirror for Android), it can now also show your new incoming texts.

If you’re using this widget already, you need to download the DashClock widget on your tablet or phone first. After positioning on your home or lock screen, open the DashClock settings. Click on “Add another extension” and search for mysms or mysms mirror. After adding it to your list, you can enable or disable options like the privacy mode.

Now you’re ready to go. The DashClock widget displays either a mysms icon with a badge that shows the number of unread messages or the sender’s name with the message content (depending on the privacy settings).  A tap on the notification directly opens the app. So you’re able to to read the whole text or to compose and send an answer immediately.

We hope that this implementation helps you to manage your messages even faster.

Pioneers Festival 2013 – We were part of it

Posted in events by mysms

“Stop dreaming. Be a Pioneer.” From October 30 to October 31 the Pioneers Festival took place at Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna, Austria. The event had a clear focus – start-ups and innovative technologies. This year about 2.500 people were part of the event and the mysms team was right in the middle of it.

We were very proud to present mysms to all pioneers on the first day of the festival. At our own showroom we shared our passion for mysms with lots of interested people. The demonstration of mysms’ functionality was stunning experience for the community.

Besides our showroom we had the chance to listen to speakers like Chris Barton (Shazam), Eric Migicovsky (Pebble) or Adam Cheyer (Siri) in the stunning halls of the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Moreover we had a look at some other great start-ups and innovations and were also at the After Party, of course 😉

A great event!

In a nutshell: The Pioneers Festival 2013 was simply awesome. Not only the amazing atmosphere of the location, but also the inspiring attendees and speakers made the event very special.

We’re very looking forward to be part of it again next year!

mysms integrates with Dropbox and Google Drive

Posted in mysms news by mysms

We’re very excited to share our latest news with you: mysms integrates with Dropbox and Google Drive and adds forwarding texts to email. This enables you to archive your incoming and outgoing messages to keep them safe anytime.

Archive your messages

Archive your messages

With mysms your messages are saved in the mysms cloud and available on any device. One year ago we announced our partnership with the note-taking app Evernote to provide you with the possibility to search, manage and archive your messages. As we have received a lot of positive feedback, we decided to open up our platform other cloud-based services to give you the choice where you want to store your messages. The integration of Dropbox, Google Drive and email should make it even more convenient to manage your texts and multimedia messages. Your messages can be searched immediately and will stay in the message archive even if your mobile phone gets lost or undergoes a factory reset.

How it works:

In mysms on your phone and on the web you’ll find the setting “Dropbox, GDrive, Evernote, Email”, which allows you to connect your mysms account to one of these services. After the successful connection you are ready to go. From this time all your new incoming and outgoing messages will be archived in your Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote or your email account.

If you need help with the set up or in case you have further questions, contact us here.

We’re very curious about what you think of this integration. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
