Posted in mysms quick tips by mysms

In addition to send messages via your mobile carrier and mysms friends, mysms supports various websms connectors which you can use to save on SMS costs.

Using the example of mysms out, we show you how you can activate an available websms connector:

What is a connector?

A connector is a websms service that can be used in your mysms Android app. When texting via mysms out you need to have an active data or Wi-Fi connection.

How can I activate a connector?

Start mysms on your mobile and open the settings. Under “Sending text” you’ll find the menu “Websms connectors”, where all available websms connectors are listed. Click on mysms out to install the connector from the Google Play Store. When you’ve successfully installed mysms out, you can activate the connector. Just reopen “Websms connectors”, choose mysms out and click on the grayed out check mark to enable the connector.

Whenever you send a new message, you can now choose the mysms out connector. Press and hold the send button to see all available sending options. Your new mysms out connector will also be shown here. Of course, you can use this sending option on any device. If the sending option isn’t available immediately, perform a manual sync on your phone and re-login on the other device, where you’d like to use the mysms out connector (tablet, desktop or web app).

What about the costs?

The current global text rate for mysms out is € 0.08 (UK: £0.07) (all prices include VAT). You’re charged for each text message individually. A very long SMS will be charged as multiple SMS. For all other connectors, just open the menu “Websms connectors” in the mysms settings again and click on your preferred connector. There you can obtain the current rates.

Here you’ll find a list of countries that are supported by mysms out: Country list

Give it a try now! The first 10 SMS sent via the mysms out connector are for free 🙂

[quick tip] Define your fav sending option (Android phone users only)

Posted in mysms quick tips by mysms

mysms offers Android phone users the great possibility, to not only send mysms friends messages, but also messages via a connector or texts via your mobile carrier. Maybe you have already seen that the mysms settings on your phone include an option called „Text via“. We’ve integrated this function so that you can arrange your sending preferences. It completely depends on you how your text message is sent.

How to change your sending options

How to change your sending options

If your recipient also uses mysms, the sending option “mysms friends” will always be the first choice, as this option is free of charge. In case you have installed a connector, you can choose, whether you’d like your messages to be sent primarily via this connector or via your mobile carrier. Don’t forget you’ll receive 10 free messages, if you download the mysms out connector :). However, if your contact is not supported by your preferred sending option, the next available option will automatically be selected. You can easily arrange your sending preferences with “drag & drop” for domestic and international texting. Your sending options will then be shown in the send button whenever you send a new message.

Additional preferences for specific contacts

After you’ve arranged your sending preferences for all contacts, you can additionally change this setting for individual contacts in a particular thread. Press and hold the send button to see all available sending options. Then choose one option and send a message. The option will be saved as first preference for this contact. Your “Text via” setting won’t be changed.

Please note: This option is a feature for Android phone users only, as iPhone and Windows Phone users are only able to send mysms friends messages. We’d love to provide our Windows Phone and iPhone users with the same feature set and we promise to implement the functionality as soon as restrictions of the operating systems change.

Introducing Websms Connectors for mysms

Posted in messaging, mysms news by mysms

Yesterday we opened our mysms Android app for other websms services. By doing this, we expand our core service – free synchronization of text messages on various platforms – by one additional sending option.

Using other websms services via mysms is made easy with the integration of connector apps. With immediate effect, there are connectors of providers like Fishtext, Cherry-SMS, O2, GMX, sms.at, sipgate and many more available on Google Play. For users of these services it’s now possible to use their SMS package while sending over the mysms Android app, tablet app, Facebook app, Chrome app, desktop app or web app.

Moreover, we decided to launch our very own connector. With “mysms out” we offer text messages for 0.08 EUR worldwide. This service is no longer part of our mysms app, but a discrete connector which is treated like all other websms connectors. Additionally, you can access your “mysms out” credit via other compatible SMS apps.
